In the Emergency Department, not every case ends with a clear diagnosis. Decisions are made in real time – often with incomplete information, evolving clinical pictures, and system constraints. While traditional academic platforms emphasise confirmed diagnoses and completed outcomes, the reality of emergency care frequently lies in uncertainty and yet these cases rarely find space in discussion.
“Unresolved: The ED Case Files,” a featured session at EMPARV 2026, is designed to change that.
This platform invites residents to present real ED cases that remained diagnostically unresolved at the point of care, shifting the focus from final answers to clinical reasoning, decision-making, and lessons learned under uncertainty.
Because not every case has an answer, but every case has a lesson!
